Chronic fatigue, lingering tension, and emotional numbness are the body's way of naming something deeper that asks to be tended. Re-membering the Heart™: Healing Trauma Wholistically from an Islamic Lens

Most of us are straddling states of overwhelm. Vicarious trauma is real, and it relates to the psychobiological changes that take place within us when we witness injustice and oppression. As a community, we are also reaching a level of compassion fatigue that many of us have not felt before. The purpose of our lives is not to avoid trauma; trauma is an inevitable part of the drama of life. One of our purposes is to wrestle with life, to mingle with the elements of the world and the expansion and contraction principle that governs it, processing and digesting the overwhelming emotions and states that arise from our being in this world, and gathering our being back into wholeness and connection. Over twelve weeks, we explore this within an Islamic paradigm and offer practical tools for finding our center again by re-connecting with our embodied hearts. May Allah accept this offering and make it beneficial for the Ummah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam.
